Portfolio Reflection

Portfolio is one the classes I have enjoyed the most, because through it I can learn to sell my skills. As an artist, every one of us is filled with ideas and capabilities, but it is hard to organize those ideas in a way that makes sense. Well, that’s what I have learned in this class. I also have been able to enhance my illustration and drawing abilities. Now I am able to combine a multitude of colors as elements to make new designs that awake new sensations in the eyes of the beholders.

Artist may have plenty of talent, but at the end of the day, it is the way their talent is organized and presented to the public that makes them successful. For example, if a designer creates a new piece of clothes, and doesn’t present it to the right audience, that designer will not be successful. I have learned to have a target in mind from the beginning of my work, whether it is males or females; children, youth, or adults; and also the social class of the people my designs are aimed to attract.

All designers must know their strengths and weaknesses in order to be able to elaborate a portfolio that show their capabilities. My strengths are colors and drawing, I love painting, drawing, and any activity that has to do with colors. My weakness is the use of the computer. It is hard for me to upload a picture and make changes to it in the computer, but it not will be forever because I am working on it. I am positive and feel confident that with much practice I will be able to learn how use the computer for future designs.

DIVINE NATURE

SPRING 2015

Spring and "springtime" refer to the season, and also to ideas of rebirth, rejuvenation, renewal, resurrection and regrowth. All seasons have their own beauty, but spring is one of the most beautiful times of all. The sun light makes all nature come back to live after a cold winter rest. The colors of flowers and plants are more vivid and brilliant than any other season.

My inspiration for this collection comes from the natural colors flowers and plants develop during springtime. The collection includes two wedding dresses, two flower girl dresses, two bride’s maid dresses, two evening or prom dresses, one skirt, one blouse, one set of pants, and a jacket. All dresses have sleeves, my desire is to promote modesty and elegance, showing that those concepts can be combined together.
These designs are made of different fabrics, including taffeta, chiffon, shantung, organza, and satin. The colors are beautiful and there is an appealing dress choice for everyone.

The proses of the design start

a beautiful piece of art.

CUSTOMER PROFILE

The Divine Nature collection is for women who dream in colors, women who like feeling young and pretty. These women like nature and flowers, but in a special way, they care about modesty too. Many young women are forced to buy clothing that need alterations in order for them to use it. Sometimes they need to buy other pieces of garments to cover their shoulders, necklines or legs because there is not enough clothing on the stores offering more types of modest features.

The fabrics and other materials chosen for the elaboration of this collection are of good quality and excellent manufacturing, nevertheless, they are at affordable prices too. Prices range between $150.00 and $1000.00 dollars, these are competitive prices in relation with other stores and labels in Utah, like Allyse’s Bridal, David’s Bridal, and Latter Day Bride and Prom. These dresses would be sold at exclusive boutiques, malls, or even over the internet.

The customer’s age range is between 5 and twenty five years old. These customers are still attending school, either high school or college. Their life style is active and most of them are single. They are looking for fashion designs that are flirty, elegant, and modest at the same time. This age group goes to dances, parties, and social events to have fun and meet people. I designed dresses that won’t compromise the standards of the customers, they can be both, beautiful and modest. I believe a woman is pretty because of who she is, and what she can offer through her character, intelligence, good attitude, and smile. My goal is to highlight those qualities in women. My designs will enhance women’s confidence and will help their inner beauty to shine.
